Become a 
Block Captain

The primary role of a Block Captain is to know the neighbors and households within your area and help communicate information to our residents.

The purpose of a Block Captain is to:

• Organize neighbors at the block level to be more resilient in the event of a disaster

• Encourage or assist neighbors to reduce their fire-fuel load

• Assist, when needed, disabled individuals living in their neighborhood

• Promote community connections

General Responsibilities:

​

• Understand the boundaries of your block

• Help maintain and update our neighborhood roster 

• Relay information to the households on your Block

• Network with other Block Captains and have fun

• Encourage others to become Block Captains or Co-Captains

• Help establish an emergency response plan for your Block

• Stay informed about Local and County Emergency Procedures
